There's a pigeon in the wok..

Good morning :-)

I did get to Freedom bar last night and stuck to soda water and did have one drink (because it was bought for me)..though I didn't drink anymore..I know the guys here will happily drink and drive on their mopeds but I don't fancy chancing it at all with my jeep!

Sam and Kenny had been out since 3:30 so were well on their way by the time we got to Freedom. Sam was full of beans and there were a few others out as well..some of them were up for having rather late ones but a few of us stuck to soft drinks and headed back to camp for a reasonable time. We got a bit of a bet going..Sam was insistent he could get up for training..I challenged with how much are you willing to bet..but then he saw that as a challenge so I backed down and Brett took up the reigns! It ended with a 1000Baht bet with the stipulation that Brett would make sure that Sam was awake enough to say 'Mary had a black little lamb'..before being left to get up and make it to training. It was a good laugh overall and I took Ollie and Jacks back with me and left the rest of them to it.

So I slept in late this morning and had a bit more of a chesty cough - I think it's working it's way through. I got up to find Ollie and Jacks had waited for me before going for food...we finally headed off about 3ish this afternoon..I've just eaten my usual at Cheap Ass and was happy to eat alone (which I usually hate doing) ..they wanted grease so headed to the German Bakery close by.

While I was sat there (and this is a nice thing around here) Brett drove up and Sam appeared..Paul also stopped at the fruit shop across the way and carried on towards the beach. So I sat having a chat with Brett and Sam
'There's a pigeon in the wok! It's just flown in and landed there!'...so that has become the phrase of the day. It didn't actually land in the wok (Brett checked)..Brett's suggestion was that I should write a book while I'm here...one chapter would have to be called 'There's a pigeon in the wok'...which I think would work pretty well as a metaphor for farang's living in Thailand..stuff like that doesn't get people worried and flapping about like it might in the West...the Thais have a more laid back approach to life..it'll all be alright in the end.

I'm going to get some bananas from the fruit shop and head to Nai Harn Beach for a little while..and then hopefully go and get my Thai sim card unlocked in Rawai (quite how I managed to do it..I'm not sure, but it was my birthday at the time so I'm sure I'd had a beer by that point!)

My temperature keeps jumping up and down so I'm taking it nice and easy..oh and the headlock Bang got my in in the steam room yesterday did soemthing to my neck..it's pretty painful today. I think I might also go for a massage for the princely sum of 2-300Baht (max 5 squid) this afternoon. I realised listening to some of the guys talking about their massages that I haven't gone for one since I left Atsumi...not good. I haven't been taking full advantage of what Phuket has to offer..but then without transport it's a little difficult to get around without turning up dripping with sweat (niiiiice!).

OK, will come back later and fill in some more of my blog..I know I've been out living it up a bit more recently, all good..but I think this is providing a good record for myself going forward of what's going on.
